What is Mammoplasty?
Mammoplasty is a general name given to various operations performed by women who are not satisfied with the size or shape of their breasts. It includes operations that allow the breasts to be enlarged, erected or reduced.
Mammoplasty is performed with various silicone and implants for breast sizes. One of the most important reasons why women need mammoplasty is the need for breast aesthetics in case of volume reduction after pregnancy, shape differences between the breasts and breast reconstructions after cancer surgery. However, sometimes it is made only for self-confidence.
Mammoplasty is performed under general anesthesia. According to the aesthetic type, the operation is performed under the breast, under the armpit cutting the nipple in lollipop shape. Mammoplasty operation lasts for 1 – 2 hours on average and patients are hospitalized for one day. The candidates for this operation are individuals who want to gain a physical and aesthetical appearance as well as individuals who have problems in physical activities.

Augmentation mammoplasty operations are performed with an average of 1-2 hours under general anesthesia, as mentioned above. The operation is performed by placing the prostheses around the nipple, under the breast or through the navel. Although the patient experiences a partially painful process after the operation, recovery is achieved in a short time.
Breast reduction operations are called reduction mammoplasty. Breast reduction operations are applied to individuals who have big breasts and who have discomfort in physical mobility. It is quite common for individuals with large breasts to experience back and neck pain in addition to physical discomfort. No scarless surgery is possible in breast reduction operations. However, the remaining scar becomes indistinct in time. As in other breast operations, breast reduction is performed under general anesthesia and takes an average of 1-2 hours.
There are some issues to be considered after surgery. Especially after the surgery, it is necessary to avoid sports that develop muscles and heavy for an average of 3-6 months.
